Ropeways Transit Rwanda Limited (RTRL) is introducing to Kigali Rwanda, the first-of-its kind mode of transportation in Africa, an urban Aerial Ropeways Transit (ART) system also known as urban cable cars.

RTRL submitted an Expression of Interest to the Rwanda Development Board in July 2020, which was followed by a feasibility study that was completed and submitted to the Government of Rwanda in December 2023. In April 2024, RTRL was awarded the concession to develop three (3) lines in the network of routes in the city of Kigali, including the backbone of the network.

Using the state-of-art sophisticated ropeways technology developed by the foremost experts in cable car technology, and with a technical team with deep expertise and references in urban cable car development in places like La Paz, Bolivia and Sentosa Singapore, RTRL will revolutionize urban transportation in Kigali bringing all the socio-economic benefits to the daily commuters of Kigali.
